R290 is classified under UN1978 Propane and is considered as extremely flammable which requires adherence to the proper safety procedures when storing, handling, transporting and using this product.  Industrial grade propane is significantly different in chemical make-up and purity than R290 and should never be substituted for refrigeration applications due to the potential damage to the equipment and safety. 

 

R290 Refrigerant should only be used by highly trained commercial refrigeration technicians.
